Bihar Accident
National News: A horrific road accident occurred on Monday night in Katihar district of Bihar, which extinguished the lamps of many houses. A SUV and tractor collided face to face on NH-31 near the Sameli Block Office. The accident was so terrible that eight people died on the spot, while two others were injured. All the people were returning from a wedding ceremony, where there was an atmosphere of laughter and happiness till a few hours ago, now weeds are there.
According to eyewitnesses, there was a strong collision between high speed SUV and heavy tractor at around two o'clock in the night. The combination of dark and high speed proved to be fatal. The SUV was badly damaged after the accident. Local people broke the glass to take out the people trapped in it, but by then most of the passengers had stopped breathing.
According to the police, the dead have not yet been fully identified, but according to preliminary information they were all residents of Supaul district. SP Vaibhav Sharma of Katihar said that all the deceased were men and were riding in the SUV. After the accident, the bodies have been sent for post -mortem and information is being given to the family.
As soon as the accident was reported, the police and relief team reached the spot. The injured were immediately rushed to a nearby government hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. Officials said that the tractor was coming from the wrong direction or what was the reason for the high speed - it is being investigated. CCTV footage and statements of eyewitnesses are being taken.
This accident has shocked the entire area. While on the one hand there is a deep mourning in the families, on the other hand people are questioning road safety and uncontrolled movement of tractors at night. Local people say that NH-31 is a lack of night vision, speed control and traffic monitoring, which the administration will have to take seriously.
